The city’s Minority/Women’s Business Enterprise Program is offering a free eight-week business training course for people interested in starting a small business or who recently started one.

The training is designed to help participants evaluate the feasibility of a business concept and develop the skills required to become the owners/operators of successful small businesses. Topics include market research, business plans, financing, legal issues, bookkeeping & taxes, business insurance, and more. Participants who complete the course are eligible to apply for a city small business loan.

Classes will begin Oct. 28 and wrap up Dec. 16. Classes will be held 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evenings at the Carl H. Russell Sr. Recreation Center, 3521 Carver School Road.
