What is Neighborhood Watch?

Neighborhood Watch is a citizens' organization devoted to preventing crime and vandalism within a neighborhood. It is through coordination and cooperation with the Winston-Salem Police Department that members learn non-intervention ways to deter crime. Neighborhood Watch members are to stay alert to unusual activity and contact the authorities.

Neighborhood Watch Association

All Neighborhood Watch groups are a part of the Neighborhood Watch Association.

Neighborhood Watch Association meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Beaty Training Center.  We do not meet in the months of August (due to National Night Out) and the Month of November (due to the National Night Out Banquet)

**The Meeting for Thursday, October 11, 2018 is cancelled due to the extreme weather at the request of the Association Board.**

The next Neighborhood Watch Association meeting will be held at the Beaty Training and Support Center (1200 N. Patterson Ave.) on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 7:00 p.m.

Personnel from Forsyth County Animal Control will be our guests at the October meeting and they will be discussing their role in keeping our community safe.

As a reminder, these meetings are held in a secure building that requires you to be allowed into the building by and employee.  Therefore, if you get there after 7 p.m.there is no guarantee that anyone will be at the door to let you in the building.

This year's National Night Out was a big success across the city with over 1,100 people coming out to join in the activities.  We hope to see even more participation next year.  The next big event for the Neighborhood Watch Association will be the National Night Out Banquet for those Neighborhood Watch Groups that hosted a National Night Out event.  This years banquet will be on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 6 pm.  More information will be provided soon to those groups that are eligible to attend..

Nextdoor

Go to Winston-Salem Police Department page on Nextdoor

The Winston-Salem Police Department has partnered with Nextdoor, a popular online service that allows information sharing in just your neighborhood. You can reply to information we share on the pages, or you can send us a private message. Nextdoor can be a useful tool for Neighborhood Watch groups to communicate with other residents in their area, but it is not an actual part of Neighborhood Watch.

The neighborhood boundaries created by Nextdoor are not the same as those for Neighborhood Watch groups and therefore might overlap from one group to another. It is also important to remember that this is not a forum to report criminal activity since it will not be monitored at all hours, so please call 911 for urgent assistance or 336-773-7700 if it's not an emergency. Visit our Nextdoor page for more information.

National Night Out 2018

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.

Registration information will be posted at a later date.

Questions can be directed to Officer G. K. Wykle at 336-407-6013 or the Community Resources Unit at 336-773-7835.
