Assistant Chief Scott G. Bricker began his career with the Winston-Salem Police Department in 1990 with Recruit Class 26 where he received both the Honor Graduate and Colleague Awards. Assistant Chief Bricker was promoted to Senior Police Officer in 1994, Sergeant in 1999, Lieutenant in 2008, Captain in 2012, and Assistant Chief in 2014.
Assistant Chief Bricker’s previous assignments within the department include: Patrol Division, Firearms Range master, Sergeant of the Special Enforcement Team (SWAT), Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Field Commander, and Special Operations Division Lieutenant. In the Special Operations Division, he served as the SWAT Commander and also supervised two Street Crimes Squads, the Crime Reduction Task Force, and the Hazardous Devices Unit. As a Captain, he was the District 2 Patrol Commander and most recently served as the Professional Standards Division Commander.
Assistant Chief Bricker has obtained the NC Law Enforcement Officer's Advanced Level Professional Certificate and is a certified NC General Law Enforcement Instructor with specialty certifications in Firearms and SWAT through the North Carolina Justice Academy. Assistant Chief Bricker continues to teach both In-service Training and Recruit Classes.
Assistant Chief Bricker has a Bachelor of Science in the Administration of Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Assistant Chief Bricker is also a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm as a Military Policeman.
Assistant Chief Bricker serves on several boards and committees in the department and community. He is married to his wife Susan and they have two daughters.
