Office of Sustainability

, Sustainability Manager, 336-727-8249

About our office

The Office of Sustainability is responsible for researching and recommending improvements concerning greenhouse gas emissions and energy use on an annual basis. This office was also given the appointment to analyze the latest in trends of what the City of Winston-Salem is doing to provide services that reflect the city's leadership in energy and environmental awareness.

What is Sustainability?

The most widely accepted definition of sustainability is meeting the needs of today without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This topic also spans a huge range of issues, from energy efficiency to housing to the local economy.

Sustainability Plan
Our office is working on creating the City of Winston-Salem's first Master Sustainability Plan. It will be a combination of goals identified from the STAR Communities project described above, current sustainability goals our city has previously identified, and suggestions from the public.

If you would like to submit a suggestion, concern, or comment on the sustainability efforts in the city for the sustainability plan, complete the form below. We are interested in more than just environmental issues, so feel free to include other ideas as well. If you would like an idea of other topics you could comment on, see the STAR Communities image.
