Authority for Creation The Recreation and Parks Commission was created by Section 2-59 of the City Code and adopted by the City Council on February 1, 1971.
Purpose/Function The purpose of the Commission is to serve in an advisory capacity in the operation and management of the parks and recreational facilities of the City of Winston-Salem.
Method of Appointment The members are appointed by the City Council upon the recommendation of the Mayor.
