Your business does not have to be a certified minority- or women-owned business to bid on city contracts for goods and services. However, being certified will allow the city to contact your business and inform you of those opportunities that are available here. This page lists opportunities for construction projects.
To be a certified minority- or women-owned business, you must become certified with the State of North Carolina HUB Office. The State's HUB office is the certifying agency for the entire state. For more instructions, go to the M/WBE Certification page. To register as a vendor please visit the Purchasing Department's web page.
NOTE: All projects are open for public bid and are available to M/WBE businesses. Plans and project specifications can be reviewed in the City/County Purchasing Department. You can contact them at 336-747-6929 or view the listing on Purchasing's website:

According to the M/WBE program regulations, general contractors bidding on Formal-Range Projects are responsible for soliciting M/WBEs for participation. M/WBEs should submit questions and quotes to general contractors bidding on projects.
Pre-bid conferences provide opportunities for M/WBE subcontractors to learn about upcoming projects and to meet general contractors interested in bidding on these projects. M/WBEs can contact M/WBE Staff or the Purchasing Department after the pre-bid conference to get a list of general contractors that attended the pre-bid conferences.
